Anvil reflect on a life following the religion of fun

Posted on 14 June, 2009 by Martin Kielty [return]

Mick Wall talks to the folk heroes of the rock world about how Monsters of Rock has transformed into Download - and what they've learned in the 27 years between appearances

If you've ever had the great privilege of sitting quietly and listening while experienced men talk about living a life doing things you could only dream of, you should listen to this interview. If you've never been there, you should listen to it twice.

Mick Wall speaks to Anvil about how the world of rock has changed since they were last in Donington, and about the band's "strange fame" after their movie success. Look out for quotes including "It's not like the old school where everyone has the heart", "It's a whole new audience with bands I've never heard of", "being put on the bill beside the younger bands is a complement" and "The majesty of Anvil is just being discovered, and it's never too late. I'm in a movie, but I'm not a movie star. We're rockers, and that's what it's all about. That's what I'm here for. This is the best religion in the world: F-U-N, fun. Okay? Okay?"
